Flexible warranty support needs permanent clarity

By Tony Byrne · Vertex Automotive Solutions

Flexible resource can help an automotive business cope with warranty demand. It cannot compensate for unclear authority or an unreliable flow of evidence.

Flexible resource can help an automotive business cope with warranty demand. It cannot compensate for unclear authority or an unreliable flow of evidence.

Our January discussions examined how support could be arranged around the work rather than simply adding permanent posts. The commercial attraction was capacity matched to need. The operating requirement was continuity: retailers must know who is responsible and how a difficult case progresses.

Vertex Automotive Solutions would define the service before discussing headcount. Identify the claims population, evidence expectations, prioritisation rules and escalation route. Separate administration from technical interpretation and decisions requiring delegated authority.

Coverage then becomes a practical question. Can the team sustain the required work during absence, peaks and handovers? Is the record clear enough for another competent colleague to continue without reconstructing the claim?

Omnia's intended role is to make the queue and its dependencies more intelligible. A case approaching a limit should be visible with its missing evidence and accountable owner. That information can support resource planning without handing policy authority to the software.

Judge the model through ageing work, correction effort and continuity of service. Lower staffing cost is only part of the result; a cheaper arrangement that transfers delay to retailers may weaken the overall commercial position.

If your warranty team is stretched, bring Vertex a representative workload and the current responsibility map. We can help establish whether the issue is capacity, capability or process before another recruitment decision is made.
