Your people make the promises, explain the work, manage the pressure and protect the customer relationship. Vertex helps them build the knowledge, judgement and confidence to do that work well — with practical automotive training, coaching and development shaped around your business.
THE REALITY OF A BUSY AFTERSALES TEAM
An advisor faces a frustrated customer while waiting for an answer from the workshop. A controller has to prioritise a repair without all the parts or approvals. A parts manager can see the stock exposure but struggles to secure a clear decision. A new manager is accountable for results while still learning how to coach the people producing them.
These are everyday situations in aftersales. They demand technical understanding, commercial judgement and the ability to communicate under pressure. Confidence comes from being prepared for the work people will actually encounter.
Vertex begins by understanding that work. We look at the role, the team, the customer journey and the evidence behind the performance concern before shaping the programme.
Sometimes the answer is a new skill. Sometimes the person needs clearer authority, a better handover or a process that supports the behaviour expected of them. Identifying the cause helps training address the right problem and gives managers a clearer way to reinforce progress.
ROLE-RELEVANT DEVELOPMENT
Programmes can be shaped around the operating environment, the role and the commercial requirement rather than delivered as generic classroom content.
Customer communication, commercial conversations, evidence, ownership and effective handovers.
Flow, prioritisation, VOR, productivity, decision discipline and operational visibility.
Inventory thinking, demand, availability, obsolescence, evidence and commercial action.
Claims quality, evidence, compliance, retailer behaviour and stronger warranty control.
Turning information into accountable decisions, coaching teams and sustaining change.
Bespoke capability programmes aligned to network priorities, launches and operating standards.
CONFIDENCE IN THE CONVERSATION
A carefully recorded concern can support diagnosis. A clear explanation can help a customer make a decision. A reliable handover can prevent work being repeated. These moments deserve the same attention as the figures reported at month end.
We use original automotive scenarios to practise the conversations that matter: a noise the customer struggles to describe, an uncertain completion date, a warranty query or an EV range concern. Participants learn to ask useful questions, check understanding and agree a next step they can own.
Commercial conversations are developed around explaining the evidence and the value of the work. Customers should understand what is recommended, why it matters and which decisions remain theirs.
People differ in how they respond to detail, pace, reassurance and challenge. Behavioural tools such as DiSC can support discussion of those preferences and help teams practise a more considered approach.
The purpose is better communication and self-awareness. Managers still need to understand the individual, the circumstances and the responsibilities of the role, rather than using a profile as a fixed label.
COMMERCIAL JUDGEMENT
A performance figure becomes useful when the manager understands what sits behind it. Workshop activity, sold hours, labour recovery, parts availability and customer contact tell different parts of the story. A better result in one area can conceal pressure somewhere else.
We help managers question the evidence, identify the cause of a gap and choose an action that fits the operation. The same discipline applies to parts capital, warranty recovery and customer retention: establish what is known before committing to the remedy.
Leadership development also needs practical coaching. Giving useful feedback, addressing a recurring behaviour and explaining a change can feel uncomfortable even for experienced managers. We create room to practise those conversations and connect them to an operating routine.
The aim is a manager who can explain the priority, support the team and verify the outcome. That makes improvement less dependent on repeated escalation to the most experienced person in the business.
VERTEX CAMPUS
Vertex training is designed to connect learning with the operating environment. Where appropriate, training can be supported by profiling, workshops, coaching, practical exercises and follow-up review.
Built around aftersales, parts, warranty, customer and operational realities.
Translate the learning into behaviours and decisions that can be used at work.
The objective is stronger performance, not simply course completion.
FROM LEARNING TO THE NEXT WORKING DAY
Before a programme begins, we agree the behaviour or decision that needs to improve and how it will be reviewed. That might be concern capture, customer updates, claim evidence, workshop handovers or the quality of a manager's daily control meeting.
The requirement may suit a focused workshop, a role programme, individual coaching or a wider OEM and retailer initiative. Scenarios and exercises can reflect the responsibilities, policies and systems your people work with, using appropriately anonymised material.
Where agreed, follow-up can include observation, coaching and review of a relevant work sample. Attendance confirms that somebody took part. The stronger evidence is whether they can apply the learning and whether the agreed measure improves over time.
Tell us where the team is struggling and what you want customers or colleagues to experience differently. We can help define the development need before you commit to a programme.
